“I’ve watched many friends and family members die violent deaths.  I’ve watched young people all around me loose their freedom.  When you have a felony record before you turn 20, it makes it hard to find work and support your family.  Many of my friends are mentally and economically trapped.  I’ve understood this and since I was a teen,  I wanted to do what I could to help my people find unity and peace. That’s why I started the Urban Fatherhood Project and the Promote the Peace Teen Summits” – Akil Jennings

Akil has received airplay on 102.5 KSFM breaking out a show with hosts Derrick “DOA” Allen, Big Al, and Wayne Wayne.  The show was called  “The Future Flava Show”.   In November, 2005 Akil began getting Airplay on ”916 Leak” on 103.5 The Bomb in Sacramento.  He was becoming known for his strong lyrics and tight tight production.

in 2008, Akil founded the Home Grown Soul Show on V101.1 FM and begin producing weekly live band open mic that featured the areas best singers and musicians.  The weekly Thursday event became the talk of the town and the who’s who of Sacramento made it the place to be in Sacramento.  Only now after a 5 year run on radio and stage, Akil is finally working on his art of music.
